Call for Papers Special Issue on Community Engagement

CALL FOR PAPERS
SPECIAL ISSUE ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The Journal of Psychology in Africa (JPA) is a peer-reviewed journal. The objective of the journal is to provide a publication source for psychological research in Africa and the African diaspora, and a forum for better dissemination and utilisation in the context of development.
This Call for Papers announces a Special Issue of the JPA, which will focus on community engagement in Africa and the African diaspora. The scope of the Special Issue encompasses all aspects of community engagement theory and practice. The Special Issue provides an opportunity to promote and demonstrate emerging scholarship and innovative applications in the field, particularly as they relate to African, African-American, Asian, Caribbean, and Hispanic-Latino realities and contexts.
Original research papers (6000-8000 words), brief reports (1500-3000 words), book reviews, commentaries, case analyses and announcements are sought, both invited and contributed. Sample themes include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Community engagement theory and concepts
  •  Critical evaluation of community engagement theory and practice
  •  Generative approaches to community engagement
  •  Community engagement methodologies
  • Community engagement applications
  •  Community training and capacitation
  •  Community engagement as discourse and praxis

Language: Manuscripts will be accepted for publication in English.

Acceptance of Paper: Papers are accepted for publication provided these are submitted solely to the JPA, and are subjected to blind peer review and editorial revision. Papers will be scrutinized and commented on by at least two independent expert referees or associate editors, as well as by an editor.

Submission: The deadline for submission of manuscripts is 15 May, 2012, and early submissions are encouraged.
